Biography
For those who appreciate the joys of classical music and the soul of rock and roll, pianist Sebastian Gomelsky might be your new obsession. Active in the greater Nashville area since 2024, Sebastian offers a unique mix of skills; he is a classically trained pianist capable of handling large concert repertoire while also having an ear for commerical music of all kinds. Combine this with his exceptional reading abilities and general adaptability, and you have one of the most exciting and desirable keyboardists in Tennessee.
In the world of classical music, Sebastian has performed in several concerts showcasing challenging repertoire from composers like Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Mozart. He also has extensive ensemble experience both at home and abroad, working as an accompanist for classical vocalists and instrumentalists, in small chamber groups, and larger ensembles including wind band and orchestra. On the commercial side, Sebastian has worked as a gigging musician throughout the Nashville area as a keyboard player and guitarist. He has extensive experience working as a pianist at steakhouses, wedding receptions, and restaurants in general. Additionally, he has been an integral member of several bands, and actively works with several Belmont affiliated artists as a recording instrumentalist and live musician.
Born in 2005, Sebastian began playing piano at the age of five. His first instructor immediately recognized his gift of perfect pitch and pushed him to excel based on his ability to play most things by ear and to read and commit sheet music to memory very rapidly. After years of classical piano training, he decided to take up guitar as a second instrument. He thoroughly enjoys the freedom he feels when he plays the guitar, and while he enjoys playing all genres of music, there is nothing quite like the experience of shredding to a heavy metal classic.
Currently, Sebastian is a full-time student at Belmont University working towards the completion of a B.M. degree in Music Performance in the spring of 2028. He is preparing two major degree recitals, and actively expanding his classical repertoire for graduate school auditions coming in the next year. Additionally, Sebastian is planning on entering multiple stateside piano competitions to gain competition experience and to have the chance to play standard concerto repertoire with large state orchestras across the country. He remains an active gigging musician in Nashville and is always looking for opportunities to play with others. His next destination is graduate school, where he will continue to pursue his aspirations of mastering his instrument while maintaining his diverse set of skills in the commercial scene.
